PUPPP rash usually begins to appear in third trimester around 35th week of pregnancy.
It is rash begin as tiny itchy red bumps in the stretch mark on abdomen. Distinguishing characteristic is that it surrounds but never affects the navel. About 1 in 130-300 pregnancies develop this rash. It is more likely to occur in first pregnancy but can also occur in subsequent ones.

2. Abdominal Stretching.
Overstretching of skin puts extra pressure on elasticity. Thus, causes connective tissue damage leading to inflammation.
3. Fetal cells migrating to mother’s skin
During pregnancy fetal cells migrates to different parts of mother’s body. Skin may see these cells as a foreign invader and triggers systemic response causing rash.

How to prevent PUPPP
Since no one is sure what causes PUPPP exactly there is not guaranteed way to prevent it. You can make healthy diet and lifestyle to prevent your chances getting it like strengthening abdominal muscles before pregnancy, yoga, detox (Panchakarma in Ayurveda) before pregnancy to clear load on liver and other excretory organs.
If you get PUPPP then you might need some herbs and Diet changes to reduce itching and inflammation.
When the rash will go away
Rash disappears on its own with in few weeks to months after delivery.
